THE RELEVANCE OF BB4P PEACE ZONES AND PEACE CLUBS<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. As of now, there are not enough Peace Zones <\/strong>or Peace Clubs <\/strong>established in the 5 Targeted States<\/strong>, Cities, LGA or Communities <\/strong>that have been affected by \u2018violent conflict\u2019 <\/strong>to sustain a Community based Peace Initiative<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Peace Zones <\/strong>are Community based \u2018safe places\u2019 <\/strong>where the Communities gather daily to enjoy Basketball <\/strong>and Peace making <\/strong>activities.<\/li>\n
  3. Peace Zones <\/strong>are used as \u2018sites\u2019 <\/strong>to identify Youth <\/strong>for more \u2018training\u2019 <\/strong>by USAID\/IFESH\/CALM & BB4P<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Peace Clubs <\/strong>are sensitizing \u2018students\u2019 <\/strong>about and for Peace <\/strong>and through their various \u2018out-reach projects\u2019 <\/strong>sensitizing their communities about the need for PEACEFUL Co-existence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. Peace Zones are <\/strong>registering with their Local Government Areas, or States as NGOs<\/strong> and \u2018co-operatives\u2019 <\/strong>to initiate economically viable activities for success.<\/li>\n
  6. The BB4P \u201cFund Raising Cards\u201d <\/strong>gives each Peace Zone and Peace Club <\/strong>a means to acquire some funds for their activities.<\/li>\n
  7. BB4P Peace Clubs <\/strong>have been recognized by the Plateau State Commissioner of Education <\/strong>to the extent that Peace Clubs <\/strong>have been made compulsory in all the Plateau State secondary schools. We believe every State<\/strong> should follow-suit.<\/li>\n
  8. The name BB4P <\/strong>has attracted a lot of attention both in the media and the Basketball Community. If exploited to its full potential of having Bi-annual State and National BB4P \u2018Competitions\u2019 <\/strong>many more Youth <\/strong>stand to profit from their \u2018sweat\u2019.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  9. The most relevant factor about the Peace Zones <\/strong>as expressed by the \u201cFounders\u201d<\/strong> is the networking that should make every Peace Zone<\/strong> to compete against another Peace Zone<\/strong>, a minimum of once in every month.<\/li>\n
  10. The BB4P Nigeria Network <\/strong>is now made-up of 5 States <\/strong>with requests from 6 more States <\/strong>to join.<\/li>\n
  11. The BB4P Africa Network <\/strong>is yet to be formed but it is our desire to see it established in the near future because PEACE must reign<\/strong> and communities affected by violent conflict must<\/strong> find ways to heal<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    10 PEACE ZONES AND 30 PEACE CLUBS (minimum) PER STATE<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Our experiences thus far (4 years) have convinced us that a minimum of\u00a0 3 BB4P Peace Zones <\/strong>each in 3 different Cities or Towns <\/strong>in each of the BB4P <\/strong>States are necessary for growth, development, sustainability and for the \u2018message of PEACE <\/strong>to be spread continuously at the \u2018grassroots\u2019 <\/strong>level in the various violent prone Communities. Obviously, this will encourage more \u2018buy-ins\u2019<\/strong> in these States and other States to join BB4P <\/strong>and establish their own Peace Zones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Already the Plateau State Commissioner of Education <\/strong>has made it compulsory for Peace Clubs <\/strong>to be formed in Schools in his State and BB4P <\/strong>is only having a presents in 2 Cities <\/strong>(Jos & Shendam\/Yelwa<\/strong>). This is indeed another \u2018testimony\u2019 <\/strong>of the success of the BB4P Project <\/strong>and future possibilities.<\/p>\n

    It is our belief that the Nigeria BB4P Network <\/strong>and the future African BB4P Network <\/strong>of Peace Zones <\/strong>when fully functional, with consistent Competitions <\/strong>will provide many opportunities for our African Youth <\/strong>to prosper while helping to bring and maintain PEACE <\/strong>in our \u2018so called\u2019 poverty, war-torn AFRICA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
